Angela Lomax

Founding Dancer

Whatever happens, “KEEP DANCING” has been the motto instilled in Angela Lomax since she was 2 years old. Angela’s informal dance training began at age 2, dancing on her mother’s wooden record player console after an episode of SOUL TRAIN. Throughout the years, her dancing continued mostly at home and parties. Angela’s love of dance branched out to a neighborhood dance program, and eventually, she enrolled in several modern, jazz, and African dance classes while attending City College/CUNY. After college, Angela realized how dance allowed her to express her love of life and de-stress from the trials and tribulations of life, so she sought a place where she could keep dancing. She found her place with Audrey Madison. As a founding member, Angela has been dancing and performing with Mojazz Dance for almost 30 years. She credits Audrey with exposing her to and teaching her the many techniques of Martha Graham, Charles Moore, Bob Fosse, and Katherine Dunham, just to name a few.

Angela continues to work as a registered nurse at a major hospital in NYC, where she applies her KEEP DANCING mentality with her patients. Angela has recently acquired her Masters of Science degree in Nursing and Education. When not dancing with MoJazz or caring for patients, Angela spends time with her other loves, her daughter, Ciera and granddaughter, Taylor, who are there cheering on their mom and grandma, in person or in spirit.
