Sheila Kennedy

Dancer/Advisory Committee

Sheila Kennedy lives, loves and dances. A lifelong social dancer with limited formal dance training, she nevertheless was often the first and last person on the dance floor. After two years as a line dancer with Brooklyn Groovers, and years as an audience member, Sheila began dance classes with MoJazz in 2016, inspired by her friend Jackie, who had joined MoJazz the previous year. Almost immediately Sheila became a MoJazz Dance company member. Enthusiasm and positive outlook more than compensated for lack of experience as Sheila performed WomanHood at the Women’s Press Collective International Women’s Day Celebration. “Finally, I can say, I’m a dancer!”

Sheila is a retired corporate communications officer who served in policy and management positions in banking and government, working with media, legislators, shareholders and community representatives. A Brooklyn native, she lives in historic Bedford Stuyvesant with her husband and son.
